PRL’s Rapid Dryset Handrail Base Shoes are designed to provide a lighter, stronger, and more efficient solution for glass railing installations. Suitable for both mechanical and cemented applications, this system helps simplify installation while maintaining the durability required for demanding architectural projects.

Compared to traditional heavy base shoes, PRL’s rapid dryset system is 35% lighter while offering excellent strength and long-term performance. Its cement-free dryset design helps reduce installation mess and labor, while interchangeable drop-on covers make future finish changes or localized replacements much easier.

PRL manufactures its aluminum extrusions in-house, allowing for quality control, consistency, and greater flexibility across project requirements. Components are available in standard 4-inch and 2 3/4-inch heights, as well as 10-foot and 20-foot stock lengths. With our advanced extrusion capabilities, custom lengths can also be produced to meet specific railing conditions.

Fabricated from 6063-T5 aluminum, these base shoes are engineered to accommodate a range of tempered and laminated glass thicknesses for glass railing and guardrail applications.

Installation efficiency is one of the system’s key advantages. 3-inch pressure plates help secure glass panels within the dryset assembly without the need for special tools, while alignment connection pins support consistent alignment from one base shoe to the next across continuous runs.

The system’s interchangeable drop-on covers are designed for easier maintenance and finish updates without removing the entire railing assembly. Covers simply drop into place and include internal glazing pockets with embedded vinyl, helping streamline installation and improve long-term fit.

PRL offers these rapid dryset base shoes in a variety of finishes, including cladded, anodized, custom powder-coated, and Kynar-painted options, making them suitable for a wide range of architectural styles and project specifications.

INTERCHANGEABLE DROP-ON COVERS WITH GASKETS

PRL’s base shoe comes with interchangeable drop-on covers make replacing damaged pieces or changing finishes a piece of cake. Without removing the entire railing, they just drop right into place. These covers also feature internal glazing pockets embedded with vinyl so they’re easier to install and vinyl won’t fall out over time.

TRADITIONAL WET-SET RAILING SYSTEM

PRL’s Traditional Wet-Set PRL’s Traditional Wet-Set Railing System is raising the bar by providing you a stronger rapid handrail system. Currently we are excited and proud to announce that our system has recently been tested and successfully met all requirements. PRL is raising the bar by providing you a stronger handrail system. It also has the unique feature of “drop-on covers”. Since they just drop onto slots in the base shoe, they are simple and fast to install. This feature allows you to change damaged pieces easily and inexpensively. It’s also a benefit if your customer wants to change the existing base shoe finish or just make it look new again!

PRL Traditional Wet-Set Glazed is fabricated upon customers request. The Glass thickness and type varies depending on code where customers are installing their traditional handrail system. PRL offers tempered or laminated glass with multiple glass options such as: Clear, tinted, reflective, textured, sandblasted or custom design. Glass thickness varies from 3/8“ to 1/2” laminated glass. Built for durability and to enhance all handrail systems.

PRL extrudes, forms, and fabricates our own base shoe, top cap and post systems in-house! As a leading fabricator of tempered and laminated glass we are able to combine our glass and metal fabrication skills to supply your entire project. At PRL it is our goal to make your job easier and faster!
